CNN biased against Palin? This video leaves no doubt.

I took this right off of CNN.com. If you don't feel CNN is biased and sexist after watching this piece of crap, there is just no hope for you. Of course this will backfire in their face just like all the other ridiculously stupid attacks on Sarah Palin.

McCain up 4 points?

A post over at Blogs for John McCain shows a zogby poll that gives McCain a 4 point lead. However this poll also had McCain up before the start of the RNC which I find highly unlikely. I'm going to wait for some more polling before I start celebrating, but I thought you would want to know. Blogs for John McCain can be found on my blog list.

College Football Saturday

I plan to make every Saturday from here on out College football Saturday. I will posting about different games throughout to day. Today as already been very interesting with Ohio State escaping Ohio University 26-14. Ohio State did not put the game away until 5 mins left in the fourth quarter when they ran a punt back for a touchdown. I expect they'll have a better effort next week against USC.
Michigan stuggled against another MAC team Miami-ohio, but they came away with the victory 16-6.

The ACC still looks awful. It took VT until the second half to score a touchdown on Furman, although they did score three in the third quarter. Theat game is now a Final 24-7 VT. Clemson did score in the first quarter and have given up a 100 years to a receiver in the first half It's now 21-7 Clemson in the second. Virginia managed just a field goal against Championship sub divison (1-AA) Richmond in the first. They lead 3-0 in the second. Mississippi is currently leading (20) Wake Forest 14-7 in the 2nd. Clemson gave up 228 years passing in the first half. A citadel receiver has 140 yards receiving. Old Miss leads Wake 14-10 at the half.
That's enough ACC for now. Full disclosure I'm a Clemson fan.
Update
6:30pm
Wake has taken a 27-21 lead on Ole Miss. My tigers finally decided to show up in the second half. They've opened it up against the Citadel. In new news E.Carolina is up 14 on West Virginia in the fourth quarter. I think it may be time to ask what happens if they run the table.
Byu wins after Washington gets Penalized for excessive celebration after a touchdown and misses the extra point. BYU 28-27. I haven't seen the play yet, but I hope it wasn't one of those stupid calls. You know where the guy points to the crowd or pumps his fist and gets a penalty. I hope it was something blatant that the ref just couldn't ignore.
Meanwhile it looks like Virginia is going to score their first touchdown against Richmond, but it's third down inside the Spiders ten. They punched it in Virginia 10 Richmond 0 7:55 in the fourth.
7:07pm
That Wake game gave me a little more faith in the ACC we needed that one badly
Notre Dame just scored to go up 21-13 on San Diego State.
I've heard that the Washington call was one of those ridiculous calls that I was talking about earlier, but I still haven't seen it.
9:30pm
Miami is hanging around with Florida 9-3 gators at the half.
However elsewhere in the ACC Middle Tenn 24 Maryland 14 11:14 left in the game
N.C. State a 34-24 winner over William and Mary.
I just saw the penalty in the BYU-Washington game it was ridiculous. The guy filpped the ball over his shoulder and was called for a 15 yard penalty. The kick ended up being blocked.

McCain camp saves flag from Democratic Convention

Apparently Democrats think the correct way of disposing of flags is by throwing them in the trash. "McCain supporters, claiming they rescued 12,000 miniature American flags from the site of Barack Obama’s nomination acceptance speech last Thursday, redistributed the orphan flags to audience members ahead of a McCain rally in Colorado Springs on Saturday." "We want to find good homes for these flags," radio host Dan Caplis said at the rally, adding that whatever flags remained would be placed at memorials throughout Colorado.

Sorry Sarah I got to help Barack get elected, says Oprah.

Ok so maybe those weren't her exact words, but that's the message.

OPRAH'S STATEMENT: "The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over." In other words after it can't possibly help her get elected has the first woman Vice-President and defeat my man Obama she can come on. "For the record, Barack Obama has been on "Oprah" twice -- in January, 2005 and again in October, 2006 -- before he announced his run for Prez."
http://www.tmz.com/2008/09/05/oprah-to-palin-i-can-pencil-you-in-later/

As she was leaving the DNC last week she commented to a reporter that she "cried her eyelashes off," during Obama's speech. "I think it's the most powerful thing I have ever experienced." She also said of Obama, "He's not an African-American candidate," she said. "He's a candidate for Americans." There is no doubt that Oprah supports Obama, she does so openly. However to deny a woman who has worked her way from the PTA to Governor a chance to have a forum on her show is not only bias, but extremly bad business.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,413186,00.html

Oprah apparently feels it is more important to get Obama elected President than to give her viewers a chance to meet the women who may be that first female to hold executive office in this country's history. I hope if John McCain and Sarah Palin are elected to office that Palin refuses to appear on Oprah when asked. I believe this is a decision Oprah will eventually reget, probably once her ratings drop and they cancel her show.

Power may be out.

Hey everyone a tropical storm is hitting my area and it appears as if my power is about to go out. I don't usually blog on the weekends, Saturday especially, so it shouldn't be a big deal. Hopefully the power isn't down for long.

Palin Bio

Hit tip McCain Palin 2008

Oil down to $105.96, but unemployment up.

"Light, sweet crude for October delivery fell $1.93 to $105.96 a barrel in afternoon trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after falling to $105.13, its lowest trading level since early April. Since surging to a record $147.27 a barrel on July 11, crude has dropped by over $40, or more than 27 percent."

While this is great news the bad news is the reason for the increase in Unemployment to 6.1% today. The economy will be the central issue in this campaign. People will have to decide will increasing taxes on businesses make it more likely or less likely that they will hire more people and create jobs.

Yes he did!

McCain drew 38.9 million to Obama's 38.4 million. Looks like there's a new sheriff in town!
http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/media_entertainment/mccain-tops-obamas-record-breaking-ratings/

Was the RNC successful?

Personally, I loved the RNC. I thought the best night was Wednesday night with Palin and Rudy. That was definatly the red meat night of the convention. Palin and Rudy took Obama apart. Of course the most important night was last night when McCain took the stage. I've seen the speech several times now and I liked it, but I didn't love it. That may be for the best as the speech was aimed at moderate democrats and independents. I'd say it'll be Sunday or Monday until the polls reflect the true impact of this speech. However polls that have come out recently our showing the gap between Mccain and Obama narrowing.

A CBS poll went from having Obama up eight to a tie. Rasmussen Reports has a headline on their from page "McCain's Bounce begins." Gallup is showing a three point bump Obama was up 7 now he is up 4. None of these polls include reaction the McCain's speech last night. I also don't think they have the full effect of Palin's speech Wednesday night taken into account. I expect McCain to have a lead in the polls come Monday.

Did McCain outdraw Obama?

Presidential candidate John McCain's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention drew more television viewers than his rival Barack Obama attracted at the Democratic party's event last week, according to preliminary ratings from Nielsen Media Research.

Across all broadcast networks Thursday, Sen. McCain’s speech ended the night with a 4.8 rating/7 share, compared to Sen. Obama’s 4.3/7 average, according to overnight numbers from metered households in 55 U.S. markets measured by Nielsen. These ratings are preliminary, however, and are subject to change.

Wow! I did not expect McCain to outdraw Obama, Hell I didn't expect him to outdraw Palin. If these numbers hold and in fact McCain outdrew Obama. Obama's campaign is in real trouble. I said to a couple of friends last night I wouldn't be surprized by a 15 point bump. (that would put McCain up 5-8 points by Sunday or Monday) I may have been underestimating.

http://www.tvweek.com/news/2008/09/mccain_tv_ratings_beat_obama_i.php

37.2 million tune in for Palin

ST. PAUL -- The McCain campaign must be giddy with this news, just out from Nielsen: Sarah Palin's speech generated 37.2 million viewers, just a 1.1 million viewers fewer than watch Barack Obama's Invesco Field acceptance speech. As Nielsen notes, only six networks carried Palin's speech compared with ten for Obama's.

Rudy's Speech

Palin's Speech

This speech was great. She hits Obama over and over again while talking about how McCain is a true leader. She meets and excedes all expectations. I feel sorry for poor Joe Biden he's not going to know what hit him at the VP debate.

"I'm not a Republican because I grew up rich, I'm a republican because I didn't want to spend the rest of my life poor waiting for the Gov't to recuse me."

Palin got more votes running for Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska than Joe Biden got running for President of the United States

John McCain is throughly tested to be President

9:40pm
Huckabee is telling McCain's life story
His life is marked not be what he is looking to receive, but by what he has already given.
Tells the story of the teacher who wouldn't let her students have desk. Unless they could tell them how to earn it. At the end of the day Veterans carried school desk into the room and she said, "you don't have to earn your school desk because these guys already did."

9:42pm
Being American isn't only about the freedom we have it's about those who gave it to us.
The desk in the oval office would fit John McCain very, very well.
Huckabee off stage.

I liked Huckabee's speech a little better than Romney's probably because I'd heard Huckabee's about fifty times. Huckabee's speech had alot more red-meat in it than Romney's. Of course I think Rudy's speech will have more Red meat than both Huckabee and Romney's Speeches combined.

I'm going to stop blogging until Rudy takes the stage.

10pm
I guess Rudy is going after Sarah Palin so were waiting on her. Go get em Barracuda!

10:01pm
They just announced Rudy oops!

Already the longest Presidential election in history.

On one hand you have a man who as past every test.
John McCain is a true American hero!
Rudy tells McCain's story.
10:10pm
McCain believes in serving a cause higher than his self interest. That cause is the U.S.A.
He stood for strong national defense.

talking about Obama
He worked has a Community Organizer
130 times he couldn't decide if he should vote yes or no
For President of the U.S. it's not good enough to be present.
you have to make a decision.
a few years later he ran for the U.S. Senate.
He's never a run a city, state, business, millitary unit.
He's never had to lead people in candidate.
He is the least experience candidate in the last 100
Barack Obama has never led anything.
John McCain has been tested Barack Obama has not.
We agree with Joe Biden.
Being President means getting that call at 3am we agree with Hillary.
We will be safe in the hands of John McCain, no doubt!

10:15pm
There's good change and bad change. Change is not a destination just as hope is not a strategy.
McCain will lower taxes so our economy will grow
He will strength our dollar by reducing government
He will led us to energy independence with an all of the above approach.
Drill baby drill, Drill baby drill. Drill baby drill!!!

10:20pm
John McCain will keep us on offense against terrorism at home and abroad.
Democrats are in a state of denial about the biggest threat that faces this country
John McCain can face the enemy, and he can win.
I believe when the Democrats gave up on Iraq they gave up on America.
John McCain got it right and Barack Obama got it wrong.
Rudy is killing Obama by pointing out all his filp-flops
"I tell you if I were Joe Biden I want to get that VP thing in writing"
10:23pm
Rudy is now talking about Obama's positions on Georiga
apparently none of Obama's 300 foreign policy advisors knew Russia had a veto in the U.N. Security Council.
I have some advise for Obama, "Next time call John McCain."
10:28pm
Rudy is killing Obama. "Maybe their clinging to reglion there."
Sarah Palin has more executive experience than the entire Democrat ticket.
She's got a 80% approval rating.
This is a woman who has no fear, this is a woman who stands up for what's right.
Can you imagine how McCain and Palin are going to shake up Washington.
How dare they question if Palin has enough time to be VP and spend with her children.
When do they ever ask a man that question.
Let's get John McCain and Sarah Palin elected and let's move this country forward.

10:30 PM Here's Sarah
They love her they won't even be quite long enough so she can start speaking.
Sarah Palin accepts the nomination for Vice President
another huge roar from the crowd.
10:33pm
John McCain knows how tough fights are won.
It was just a year ago experts counted out John McCain
The pollsters and the pundit overlook the resolve and the shear guts of Sen. John McCain.

To families of special needs children across America if your elected you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.
10:45pm
This is America and every woman can walk through every door of opportunity.
Small town people are always proud of America.
They grow our food and fight our wars.
I had the privlege of growing up in a small town.
Let me explain to my opponents what the job of being mayor of a small involves.
"I guess it's sorta like a community organizer except with actual responsibly."
She is killing Obama
"We prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scanton and another way is San Francisco."
"I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this great country."
Talking about the right reasons to go to Washington
"To serve the common good, and to leave this country better than we found it."

Wow this is a great speech I want to quote the whole thing.

She is talking about using the veto to trim pork barrel spending.
I veto half a billion dollars
"I told the congress thanks but no thanks on that bridge to nowhere."
Ended the oil companies control of the state of Alaska.
Started a 40 billion dollar natural gas pipeline to lead America to energy independence.
10:52pm
We've got lots of oil and natural gas.
"The fact that drilling won't solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all."
Starting in January we will move forward on renewable resources.
We need energy produced by American workers.

about Obama
"This is a man who has not offered any major law or reform not even in his State Senate.

The only time Obama can use the word victory is when he's talking about his own campaign.

Obama wants to make government bigger and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world.

Now she's talking Obama's tax policy apart.
"How are you going to be better off if our opponet adds a massive tax burden on the American economy?"

11pm
Our nominee doesn't run with the washington heard
A man who doesn't look for a fight, but he isn't afraid of one either.
"The American Presidency isn't supposed to be a journey of personal discovery."
"Their is only one man in this race who has ever really fought for you."
11:10 pm
"For a lifetime John McCain has inspired with his deeds."
Join our cause and help america elect John McCain the next President of the United states.
Palin off stage

McCain appears with Palin on stage.
"Don't you think we made the right choice for the next Vice President of the United States."
Yes we do John McCain. Yes we do.

Excerpts from the Palin speech.

This is probably the most important VP acceptance speech in history. If Palin comes off as compentent and is able to effectively deliver a punch, it will devastate those who have belittled her the past few days. If she bombs you don't even need to watch tomorrow night, because the election would effectively be over. John McCain has once again placed his future on the line, with Iraq it was for something he believed in, with Palin it's for someone he believes in. If he's proven right once again, Obama will never again be able to question this man's judgement, and the McCain's can start measuring for curtains in the oval office. Judging from the excerpts, go ahead and start looking for the tape measurer President McCain.

“I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town. I was just your average hockey mom, and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids’ public education better. When I ran for city council, I didn’t need focus groups and voter profiles because I knew those voters, and knew their families, too. Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a ‘community organizer,’ except that you have actual responsibilities. …

“I’m not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I’ve learned quickly, these past few days, that if you’re not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone. But here’s a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I’m not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - I’m going to Washington to serve the people of this country. …

“Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America’s energy problems - as if we all didn’t know that already. But the fact that drilling won’t solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all. Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we’re going to lay more pipelines…build more nuclear plants…create jobs with clean coal…and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers. …

“Here’s how I look at the choice Americans face in this election. In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.”

9:30pm I'm waiting for President Bush to give what could be called his farewell address to this convention. I expect the President to be a little toned down because of the tragedy this week. However I still think it's going to be a great speech and should set the table for Thompson, who I think will bring the house down. I'm not sure if he or Lieberman goes first. But, I would not want to follow Thompson tonight.

9:40pm Brit Hume picks up the coverage on Fox. Were closing in on showtime.

"If the Hanoi Hilton could not break his resolve to do what is best for his country you can be sure the angry left never will"
Bush is talking up John McCain on the surge and talking about his independence.
"This is the kind of courage and vision we need in the next Command in Chief"

I am Optismic
"I have faith in freedoms power to lift up all of God's children and lead this world to peace."
Says the convention traded up for Laura Bush at the Convention. The man really loves his wife.
end of speech

Laura is talking about Cindy McCain's charity work. If cindy can do all of this in the last four months, imagine what she can do in eight years in the White House.

10:04
May God bless America.
end of Laura's speech

10:08
Tribute video to Ronald Reagan starts
Reagan replaced Carter's indecision with conviction politics.

10:09pm
Here comes Fred this is where it gets really good
We're going to nominate the next President and Vice President of the United States
Fred's talking about Sarah Palin.
"She's from a small town but that's not good enough for the washington pundits."
Give me a Alaskan government whose taken on the establishment and won over the beltway business as usual anyday.

10:13pm
She's the only nominee in the history of either party who knows how to field dress a moose.

Switch the topic to John McCain
Talks about McCain's sons who are serving in Iraq. One is going back on Christmas Day.

If you want to know who John McCain is if you want to know what John McCain values look at the servicemen and women.

10:20pm
I've never heard McCain's story told in such detail this really is an amazing man.

We hear alot of talk about hope, John McCain knows about hope it's all he had

"John McCain's bones may have been broken, but his spirit never was."

"This is the kind of character that civilzations from the beinging of time have sought from their leaders."

Two questions we will never have to ask, Who is this man? Can we trust this man with the Presidency?

10:35pm
Tonight we are being called to do what is best for our country

10:39 pm
Wow Fred, where was this in the primaries. This was a great speech it definatly explained why we should all vote for John McCain. I love the line on taxes it was great. Also saying it wasn't reform it was the same old stuff they've been peddling for years was great.

Joe's up

10:40pm
Starts off talking about Gustav
we don't think about if the victims were Democrats and Republicans because were all Americans
It shouldn't take a Hurricane to bring us together.

Too often Democrats and Republicans fight each other instead of fight for Americans.

10:43pm
"What is a Democrat like me doing at a Republican Convention like this?"
I'm supporting John McCain because Country matters more than party.
John McCain is the best choice.

Being a Democrat or a Republican is important, but it is no where near as important as being an America.

Only one candidate has actually gotten beyond Partisanship John S. McCain

10:45pm
You can expect McCain to put our country first. That's the code by which he's lived his entire life.

10:48pm
Talking about all the bi-partisan things McCain has done.

Don't be fooled by these political statements and advertisements. God only made one John McCain and he is his own man.

If John McCain is just another partisan republican I'm Michael Moore's favorite Democrat.

10:50pm
Eloquence is not substitute for a record

I think Palin is getting more applause than McCain here

The real ticket for change is the McCain-Palin ticket

What we need now is not more party unity what we need now is more national unity.

We are a nation at war.

Liberman is talking about John McCain's record on the Iraq war.

America's troops are coming home in honor.

John McCain will be a President that our allies will trust and our enemies will fear.

10:57pm
Joe Liberman tells Democrats and Independents this is no ordinary election because these are not ordinary times.

John McCain will get government working again for all the American people.

this year when you vote for President vote for the person you think is best for our country not for the party you happen to belong too.

Vote for the Leader that has always put American first.

11pm
Make an American Patriot John McCain our next great President.

Liberman's speech wasn't aimed at me. I agree with alot of what he said. His best line was "John McCain will be a President that our allies will trust and our enemies will fear." I don't know how this speech will play with Democrats and Independents because I'm neither. I guess we will see if this ends up being a plus for McCain.

Just to let you know I've noticed the smears

I was watching CNN earlier tonight and they were discussing Sarah Palin. They basically said that she had too many children to be President. One of their guess suggested that men were incapable of taking care of children. So basically they offended me twice in the matter of five seconds. Lets talk about Palin first, then we'll get more personal.

The media has spent the entire day trying to stir up controversy over Palin's daughter. My favorite is when people who are not evangelicals talk about how offended we must be that Palin's daughter got pregnant and how it doesn't fit in to the evangelicals view of good family values. I don't think these idiots know what evangelicals think about family values all they know is what people who don't like evangelicals say evangelicals view of family values are. Apparently were supposed to have the poor girl stoned to death. Speaking as an evagelical I find this offensive. Most of what I've seen of this as come from CNN. You see some on other networks too, but on CNN it's unchallenged with everyone nodding in agreement.

Also is it just me or has the media set the country back thirty years in two days. Apparently women are now not allowed to have a job and children they must pick one. They are saying that Sarah Palin is neglecting her children by taking this job as Vice President. Maybe if she was a single mother I'd agree, but she's not. There is a father on the scene is this family. Speaking as a man who was raised by a single father, let me just say that men are perfectly capable of raising children. It's not as if these children will never see their mother. You would think Palin has plans to leave her family in Alaska after the election. Apparently if she did the children would starve to death because men are to stupid to remember to feed their kids, according to CNN.

With all that said I want to wait to post my reaction to all of this until after Palin speaks, most likely tomorrow night. By Friday you can expect a stinging rebuke of the smears against Sarah Palin. What this? This was nothing.

Today's RNC Speakers

I plan to cover
President Bush, Senator Liberman, and Fred Thompson right here on my blog live.

President George W. Bush (via satellite)
First Lady Laura Bush
U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.)
Former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson (Tenn.)
U.S. House Republican Leader John Boehner (Ohio)
U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman (Minn.)
U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.)
Robert M. "Mike" Duncan, Chairman of the Republican National Committee
Jo Ann Davidson, Co-Chairman of the Republican National Committee and Chairman of the 2008 Republican National Convention Committee on Arrangements

Really Obama, this is the position you want to take.

Are you kidding me? Obama says he has more executive experience than Palin because he runs a campaign. First of all Obama, you don't run the campaign. You have people that do that for you. Your the person being run. Then he tries to take credit for the great job the Republicans did handling this storm by saying they were using his ideas.

Look here Obama, you have no executive experience, that's not questionable. You also spent most of the interview saying we. I got news for you Freshman when your President you make the decisions. In a Campaign if a bad decision is made you can fire the person responsible, which we all know your capable of. However if a bad decision is made by an administration, The President is responsible. I know I know the liberals are going to come in and say Iraq was a mistake. Well I don't think it was and furthermore we just handed off control of Anbar Province to the Iraqi government yesterday. So it looks like alot is going right there.

Also it would help if you quit making fun of small towns. I'm sorry Wasila isn't big enough or have enough employees for you. However continuing to mock people who live in small towns isn't exactly great politics. You know you have to win more than New York and California to win this election, don't you Obama?

The Republican convention has convened for the day. I have no idea what will happen tomorrow, but if they do anything I will blog about it live if possible

Republicans make phone calls from the floor of the convention

The Republican Party is taking the opportunity to call donors and ask for donations for the victims of Hurricane Gustav. I would expect their calling big money donors and that I will not be receiving a call, but if I do I'll let you know.

The differences between Obama and Palin

This article was written by Gerald Baker and posted on Real Clear Politics. It points out significant differences between Obama and Palin on several major issues, not the least of which is experience.

Political experience

Obama: Worked his way to the top by cultivating, pandering to and stroking the most powerful interest groups in the all-pervasive Chicago political machine, ensuring his views were aligned with the power brokers there.

Palin: Worked her way to the top by challenging, attacking and actively undermining the Republican party establishment in her native Alaska. She ran against incumbent Republicans as a candidate willing and able to clean the Augean Stables of her state's government.

Political Biography

Obama: A classic, if unusually talented, greasy-pole climber. Held a succession of jobs that constitute the standard route to the top in his party's internal politics: "community organizer", law professor, state senator.

Palin:A woman with a wide range of interests in a well-variegated life. Held a succession of jobs - sports journalist, commercial fisherwoman, state oil and gas commissioner, before entering local politics. A resume that suggests something other than burning political ambition from the cradle but rather the sort of experience that enables her to understand the concerns of most Americans..

Political history

Obama: Elected to statewide office only after a disastrous first run for a congressional seat and after his Republican opponent was exposed in a sexual scandal. Won seat eventually in contest against a candidate who didn't even live in the state.

Palin: Elected to statewide office by challenging a long-serving Republican incumbent governor despite intense opposition from the party.

Appeal

Obama: A very attractive speaker whose celebrity has been compared to that of Britney Spears and who sends thrills up Chris Matthews' leg

Palin: A very attractive woman, much better-looking than Britney Spears who speaks rather well too. She sends thrills up the leg of Rush Limbaugh (and me).

Executive experience

Obama: Makes executive decisions every day that affect the lives of his campaign staff and a vast crowd of traveling journalists

Palin:Makes executive decisions every day that affect the lives of 500,000 people in her state, and that impact crucial issues of national economic interest such as the supply and cost of energy to the United States.

Religious influences

Obama: Regards people who "cling" to religion and guns as "bitter" . Spent 20 years being mentored and led spiritually by a man who proclaimed "God damn America" from his pulpit. Mysteriously, this mentor completely disappeared from public sight about four months ago.

Palin: Head of her high school Fellowship of Christian Athletes and for many years a member of the Assemblies of God congregation whose preachers have never been known to accuse the United States of deliberately spreading the AIDS virus. They remain in full public sight and can be seen every Sunday in churches across Alaska. A proud gun owner who has been known to cling only to the carcasses of dead caribou felled by her own aim.

Record of bipartisan achievement

Obama: Speaks movingly of the bipartisanship needed to end the destructive politics of "Red America" and "Blue America", but votes in the Senate as a down-the-line Democrat, with one of the most liberal voting records in congress.

Palin: Ridiculed by liberals such as John Kerry as a crazed, barely human, Dick Cheney-type conservative but worked wit Democrats in the state legislature to secure landmark anti-corruption legislation.

Former state Rep. Ethan Berkowitz - a Democrat - said. "Gov. Palin has made her name fighting corruption within her own party, and I was honored when she stepped across party lines and asked me to co-author her ethics white paper."

On Human Life

Obama: Devoutly pro-choice. Voted against a bill in the Illinois state senate that would have required doctors to save the lives of babies who survived abortion procedures. The implication of this position is that babies born prematurely during abortions would be left alone, unnourished and unmedicated, until they died.

Palin: Devoutly pro-life. Exercised the choice proclaimed by liberals to bring to full term a baby that had been diagnosed in utero with Down Syndrome.

Now it's true there are other crucial differences. Sen Obama has appeared on Meet The Press every other week for the last four years. He has been the subject of hundreds of adoring articles in papers and newsweeklies and TV shows and has written two Emmy-award winning books.

Gov Palin has never appeared on Meet the Press, never been on the cover of Newsweek. She presumably feels that, as a mother of five children married to a snowmobile champion, who also happens to be the first woman and the youngest person ever to be elected governor of her state, she has not really done enough yet to merit an autobiography.

Then again, I'm willing to bet that if she had authored The Grapes of Wrath, sung like Edith Piaf and composed La Traviata , she still wouldn't have won an Emmy.

Fortunately, it will be up to the American people and not their self-appointed leaders in Hollywood and New York to determine who really has the better experience to be president.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/09/sarah_palin_vs_barack_obama.html

I can't wait for the American people to get to know Sarah Palin so they can see for themselves she's more than capable of being President. Apparently the only experience that matters to the Democrats is Washington experience (Biden) or cut throat Chicago style politics (Obama) I have an idea let's put Palin's experience up next to Obama. The fact that Democrats can question her experience while running the most inexperienced candidate in American History. Or at least "the last hundred years," according to Rudolph Giuliani, is obsurd to say the least. If Palin who has executive experience is not experienced enough to be President, what does that say about Obama who has no executive experience? I think we all know the answer to that.

Laura Bush and Cindy McCain to speak today

Laura Bush and Cindy McCain will be having an event around 6pm EST. I assume they'll ask for America to come together and help the victims of Hurricane Gustav. I will blog about this live.

Palin's 17 year old daughter is Pregnant

Welcome to National Politics Sarah. The title really says it all in this case. Palin's daughter will marry the baby's father. Palin as asked for privacy, "Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates." The only reason Bristol might actually get her wish for privacy is that they live in Alaska and reports might not want to freeze to death trying to get pictures of a Pregnant teenage girl. The Palin's decided to annouce this after bloggers said Palin had faked her last Pregnancy to cover up the fact that one of her daughter had gotten pregnant. Those claims are false and just down right mean.

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/01/palins-17-year-old-daughter-is-pregnant/
The first 7 mins are about Gustav and John McCain the last 6 are on Governor Palin. Rudy nails Obama when it comes to the question of if Palin has enough experience. I recommend starting at the 7:10 mark. Unless you want to watch the Obama Biden interview on 60 minutes.

Hurricane Gustav

The Hurricane has hit and the water is overtopping levies. Hurricane Gustav hit has a category two hurricane. However, the wind is not the concern. The question will be how much water will the storm dump on and bring in to New Orleans. Right now the levies are holding, but there is still a long way to go.

Almost 1500 hits last week.

Thanks to everyone who has visited recently. I ask that you tell you friends and help me keep the momentum going. I will start blogging about the RNC tomorrow.

Democrats think God is on their side.

This is a video of former DNC Chairman Don Fowler talking to SC Congressman John Spratt about the timing of the hurricane. The video was taking by Red State blogger Absentee and posted first on Red State. Fowler later apologized but blamed the Red State blogger saying, "One doesn't anticipate that one's private conversation will be surreptitiously taped by some right-wing nutcase," said Fowler. "But that's the nature of what we're dealing with." That's right Fowler it's the vast right wing conspiracy. I guess Absentee drugged you and then hypotised you into saying,
"The hurricane is going to hit New Orleans about the time they start,” Fowler says while laughing. “The timing is, at least it appears now, it will be there Monday. That just demonstrates God is on our side.”

RNC trims back practically cancels convention

The RNC has announced it will only do what it has to do at this convention. They cannot simply cancel the convention due to party rules and election law. There will be no party like atmosphere, no partisan speeches, monumental moments at all. There may be a fundraising effort for hurricane victims on the floor.

“At some point between Monday and Thursday evening, we will convene once again to complete the activities needed to qualify Senator McCain and Governor Palin for the ballot in all 50 states. Beyond that, all we can say is that we will monitor what is happening and make decisions about other convention business as details become available.” said campaign Manager Rick Davis

With Hurricane Gustav headed for New Orleans the world will be watching how we react to this crisis. I'm already feeling better about the preparation. It appears everyone in New Orleans who wants to leave New Orleans will be able too. They have trains and busses frequently leaving the city for other parts of the country. Mayor Nagin has said if you stay in New Orleans you are on your own.

I'm planning on going down to Louisana ASAP after this storm to help with recovery. My girlfriend is from the state and has family in the area, not New Orleans. Please pray for those in the path of this storm.
