McCain even with Obama in the Money race.

I know I can't believe it either. John McCain raised 21.4 million dollars in May while Obama raised 23.8 million dollars. McCain is only six million behind Obama in Cash on Hand trailing 43.1 to 35.9. How can this be. Obama raised 295.5 million to McCain's 124.6 million overall. First of all Obama's protracted race for the nomination cost alot of money, but maybe more importantly Obama has been spending more money than he has been taking in. In April Obama's burn rate was 114% In otherwords for every dollar that came in he spent $1.14. Mccain's was 45% in the same month. Of course to be fair Obama was still in a race and McCain had already clinched the nomination. However this should give us an indication of how these candidate plans to run the country. Obama has spent 83% of all the money coming in over the entire campaign and McCain spent 78%. (These are all April numbers) This is why although outraised by over 170 million dollars Mccain is almost even in cash on hand.
http://www.johnmccain.com/strategybriefing/a.htm

The other elephant in the room, no pun intended, is the RNC has much more money than the DNC. The Republican National Committee currently has $53 million dollars and the DNC has $4 million. This election might not go as badly for the Republicans or as good for the Democrats as some people have suggested. It's still a long way to Election Day anything can happen.

Obama Smokes Crack!

That is what supporters of Hillary Clinton spraypainted on several cars in Florida last night. A note was found critizing both McCain and Obama but praising Hillary Clinton. There was also a racial epihet written on some of the cars. I guess these people missed the unity event in Unity, NH.

Last day to vote in the poll

Today is the last day to vote on What Obama would sound like without the telepromter. I will will post the winner here tomorrow.

Iraq flying high!

I read story yesterday about Iraqi airlines. I should have written about it then, because I can't find it today. The story said that the company was back up and running after years of being not able to operate due to wars lauched by Saddam Hussein and the no fly zone that was created after the first Gulf War. The airline flew all around the Middle East in the 70's before the Iraq-Iran war. The company is now doing well again with most of their flights being at least 90% full. This is another example of success in Iraq. The story was on http://www.foxnews.com/ if anyone wants to see if they can find it.

N. Korea destorys cooling tower.

North Korea destoryed the cooling tower at their Pyongyang Nuclear plant today at 5:10pm local time. State Department spokesman Tom Casey said that North Korea had agreed to principles for verifying its declaration. "They have agreed that every question that we have about their nuclear program — plutonium, uranium, proliferation — is something they have to answer," he said. "That would mean, if there is any place we want to visit, we should be allowed to visit, any person we want to talk to, we should be allowed to."

While this is a very big development it is easily reversible if North Korea wants to rebuild the tower it would take about a month. The move to destory the tower is more symbolic than anything else. Also the report North Korea has submitted to China via the six party talks still needs to be verified according to State Dept offical Christopher Hill.

Here is a picture of the destruction of the cooling tower.

Obama and Clinton's joint meeting in Unity, NH

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama joined together in NH today to try and start the process of uniting the Democratic Party for the general election. I honestly felt bad for Hillary you could tell this was killing her. Obama for his part promised to work on equal pay for women. This was undoubtly an effort to win back the women that have joined McCain's Campaign. You could really tell that Hillary was affected when the crowd started chanting Obama's name while she was speaking. Later Obama help led a chant of Hillary during his speech. Of course they both hit the Democratic talking points comparing McCain to Bush and saying the country was headed in the wrong direction. Obama also repeated his obsurd claim that McCain wanted to say in Iraq for a hundred years. Looks like the Dems have run out of new ideas, assuming they ever had any.

DC gun banned lifted.

On another 5-4 decision the Supreme Court has lifted the D.C. gun ban. This decision makes it clear that the right to bear arms applies to all people not just organized millitias. Sen. McCain supported the ruling. I'll write more about this later tonight when I've had time to read the opinions and more on what the Presidental candidates have said about the decision.

McCain 45 Obama 45 according to Gallup.

According to a recent Gallup tracking poll McCain has pulled even with Obama, 45-45.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/108376/Gallup-Daily-Obama-McCain-Tied-45.aspx

According to most polls Obama is still up by four to six points. Even if you believe that Obama is six points up he should be up by alot more. Obama is running against a Republican Party that is badly damaged. To put this in perspective in 1976 Carter had a 33 point lead on Ford coming out of the conventions. Ford had commited the sin of pardoning Nixon, which history now views as the right thing to do. However on election day Carter squeaked out a two point victory. What happened? Ford hammered Carter for being an inexperienced liberal who would raise taxes and was soft on crime and defense. Sound Familiar? He turned what looked to be a landslide into a election that wasn't called until 3:30am. Obama doesn't have the huge lead Carter did and I feel that come election day McCain will win big.

U.S. Troops to Rebuild Sadr City.

As promised here is my first good news from Iraq post. Task Force Gold and millitary partner Task Force 1-6 have given themselves one month to rebuild. It's critical," said Task Force 1-6 Cmdr. Lt. Col. Brian Eifler. "That's why we have a 30-day window to get in, control it and just turbo-charge the area with money, with jobs, with reconstruction ... and make them feel secure." The U.S. is trying to win over the Iraqi civilians to turn to area against terrorism.
"So far, there have been 86 contracts for improvements, including sewage repairs, road pavement, parks, swimming pools, school and municipal building renovations, streetlights and a Shiite version of the "concerned local citizens' patrols" — called the Neighborhood Guard in Baghdad."

There are questions about if the money is being used in the right way by some Iraqi citizens, "We need apartments more than anything else," Sadr City District Councilor Hassan Shama told FOX News. "Do you know that in some parts of the city, we have more than 30 family members living in an area of 1000 square feet?" Also there is still corruption in the government in Iraq, "There is corruption in every country, but there is more in Iraq," said one contractor from the Jamila Market area. U.S. troops have had to kick contractors off the base for trying to bribe soliders that handle those contracts.

The Iraqi government has earmarked $100 million for this project while America has donated $14 million so far. This project only deals with a quarter of Sadr City, but at least it's a start.

5-4 bad guys again.

In a 5-4 decision the Supreme Court ruled that States could not seek the Death Penalty for child rapist. The case stems from a man who raped his eight year old step daughter and was sentenced to death in Louisana. Justice Kennedy who is known has the swing vote, but who I now think is part of the liberal wing of the Supreme Court (Read, "How could you Kennedy") said in his ruling, "The rule of evolving standards of decency ... means that resort to the [death] penalty must be reserved for the worst of crimes and limited in its instances of application."

What could be worse than raping a child?! I'd even go as far to say it might be worse than killing the child because now the child has to live with this abomination for the rest of his/her life. At least if you kill the child he/she doesn't spend the rest of his/her life reliving the rape over and over again. Kennedy also wrote in his opinion, "A state that punishes child rape by death may remove a strong incentive for the rapist not to kill the victim." What!? O.k. now I'm confused. So the death penalty is a deternet to Murder, but not to raping a child? Of Course Kennedy's next line is possibly the most disturbing. "The death penalty is not a proportional punishment for the rape of a child." said Justice Kennedy. Proportional punishment, if this ever happened to a child of mine I'd go Samuel L Jackson all over the bastard. (Watch A Time to Kill if you don't know what I'm talking about.)

The last two rulings of the Supreme Court are very disturbing. It seems as the liberal wing of the court has decided to submit it's judgement for the judgment of Legislatures around the country. At least there still are four members of the court that haven't let the power go to their head. Justice Alito wrote for the minority, "The harm that is caused to the victims and to society at large by the worst child rapist is grave." Alito pointed out the majority had, eliminated the death penatly in child rape cases, "no matter how young the child, no matter how many times the child is raped, no matter how many children the perpetrator rapes, no matter how sadistic the crime, no matter how much physical or psychological trauma is inflicted and no matter how heinous the perpetrator's criminal record may be."

I wonder if sometimes if we wouldn't be better off trading the death penalty now before a Supreme Court declares it unconstitutional. Maybe something like life without parole for all Murders, Rapist and Child Molesters. At least it would get them off the streets and keep them from reoffending. Of course whose to say the Court wouldn't find that against "evolving standards of decency" in a few years.

Dobson Says Obama is Distorting the Bible.

Focus on the Family founder, and evanglical leader James Dobson said about Obama, "I think he's deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own worldview, his own confused theology." He also said Obama had, "A Fruitcake interpertation of the Constitution." This after a tape of Obama making a statement comparing parts of the Old Testament with the New Testament to the liberal Christian group Call to Renewal in June 2006 came to light today. "Dobson took aim at examples Obama cited in asking which Biblical passages should guide public policy — chapters like Leviticus, which Obama said suggests slavery is OK and eating shellfish is an abomination, or Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, which Obama said was, "a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application." Dobson said in response to the tape, "He is dragging biblical understanding through the gutter."

On a personal note I'd like to take this Opportunity to thank Obama for uniting the social conservative base of the party, something John McCain had failed to do until now. Everyone knows the Republican Party, like the U.S. Government, has three branches, fiscal conservatives, foreign policy conservatives, and social conservatives. We've always had the foreign policy conservatives with McCain. The fiscal conservatives were a little leary, but after seeing Obama's proposals they've come along. Now with this newest development I think we can expect the Social Conservatives to finally get behind McCain. Onward to November!

Truce Over!

Well that didn't take long three rockets hit Southern Israel today. Israel said it was a "gross violation" of the truce. Two people were wounded in the attack. Isreal responded by killing two palenstines in the West Bank, where the rocket fire came from. Islamic Jihad has claimed responsiblity for the attack. "We cannot keep our hands tied when this is happening to our brothers in the West Bank." Hamas blamed Isreali provocation this morning for the attack. Even know "the provocation" was after the attack. Egypt spent six months putting this truce together, I hoped it would at least last six days.

We have got to get Obama to speak without the telepromter.

If Obama isn't going to debate McCain and take questions to from the people of this country. McCain and other Conservatives should make statements that force him to do inpromptu press conferences. Anytime someone ask a conversal question about Obama say "I think you really should ask Obama himself about that." Maybe we could get the press to ask, do you think Ginsberg and Stevens are the type of judges that you would want to nominate to the Supreme Court? McCain could say something like you know what kind of judges I would nominate to the court, what about Sen. Obama?

We must call Obama out on his failure to debate McCain even though Obama said he'd debate McCain anywhere anytime. "If John McCain wants to meet me anywhere, anytime, to have a debate about our respective policies in Iraq, in Iran, in the Middle East or around the world, that is a conversation I am happy to have," it appears however that Obama was just kidding about this too. Here's a video of him saying he'd debate McCain.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bbl4hCaUyBo&feature=related

If Obama won't debate McCain by himself were going to have to find someway to get him on the stage without a script in front of him. He is not a great speaker when he doesn't have the words right there. Also it doesn't appear he remembers much of his speeches once he's finished with them, kinda like me with my German classes. That is the only explanation I can come up with on why Obama keeps contradicting himself.

I know for a fact that both sides want to see these townhall debates. Maybe the people themselves will be able to convince Obama to keep his word, but I doubt it.

Obama decides he was kidding about taking Public Financing.

Barack Obama despite saying he would take public financing if his opponet did has decided not to take Public Financing. Despite the fact John McCain has kept his word and taken the public money. Of course now Obama says the system is broken. Amazing how the system broke just when it was time for him to use it.

Good News for Iraq

At first I was going to write about all the good news that was going on in Iraq, but then I got a better idea. Anytime I hear any good news about Iraq I'm going to post it here. I'll update it as much as needed. I hope this will keep my readers informed of all the good we have done in Iraq and help balance out all the negative press. I'll most likely have something to report later tonight.

This article was written about a month ago, but I think it's a good one to get things started.

Cease fire in the Middle East.

A cease-fire between Hamas and Israel went into effect at 6am this morning. Of course Hamas did manage to spend all day yesterday firing as many rockets has possible into Isreal before the truce began. Isreal is suppose to eaze it's blockade of Gaza within three days, and a week later ease restrictions at cargo crossings.

Obama's September 10th mindset.

Barack Obama Apparently thinks there was nothing wrong with the way we handled terrorism before 9/11 and would go back to treating terrorist has common criminals if President. "Let’s take the example of Guantanamo. What we know is that in previous terrorist attacks, for example, the first attack against the World Trade Center, we were able to arrest those responsible, put them on trial. They are currently in U.S. prisons, incapacitated," Obama said in an interview on ABC's Nightline. However while the terrorist that were captured in the U.S. for the 93 WTC bombing had been "incapacitated." The truth is that we did not round up everyone responsible for the bombings there were many unindicted co-conspirators. During the trail of these men Al-Qaeda learned that we were listening in to phone calls of Osama Bin Laden and everything else the government knew about the organization, including the list of unindited co-conspirators during discovery. Former President Clinton and former chief of the CIA, George Tenet were not able to see evidence in the case that would've led capture of more terrorist because the evidence was placed under a grand jury seal. The evidence was under seal because the government did not want intelligence tainted in order to obtain a conviction. The evidence that was under seal included The cost of the trials that convicted seven people, $100 million dollars. Had we treated this attack has an act of war instead of a crime, 9/11 would probably have never happened.

Obama also agrees with the decision of the U.S. Supreme court to grant Habeus Corpus rghts to the detainees at Guantanamo Bay. He even wants to give Bin Laden Habeus Corpus Rights if he is captured. He said about capturing Bin Laden, "I think what would be important would be for us to do it in a way that allows the entire world to understand the murderous acts that he’s engaged in and not to make him into a martyr," and what way is that? The people that support Bin Laden will see him has a martyr if he is killed by American forces. In my opinion the sooner Bin Laden guy is a martyr the better. I understand that a President has to enforce the law, but I would feel better if he at least realized this decision puts Americans at risk.

Senator John Kerry critizes John McCain for how he wants to prosecute the war, " He has fully embraced willfully, openly, fully embraced the failed, tragic policy of the Bush administration over the last seven and a half years. … He’s really defending a policy that is indefensible. He’s proving every day that he doesn’t understand Iraq, or the Middle East or the War on Terrorism." WOW! Does Senator Kerry really believe that a Freshman Senator with almost no foreign policy experience knows more about the Middle East than a Senator with several years of foreign policy experience? I think it's Senator Kerry and the Democrats that don't understand the Middle East, especially Iraq.

Why won't Obama debate McCain?

So why is Obama afraid to debate John McCain? Is it because he feels McCain experience in foreign policy will make him look weak? Is it that Obama doesn't want to discuss tax policies with John McCain? Is it because Obama is not has quick on his feet has he great at giving speeches? Is he worried that he can't know the answers beforehand if he doesn't know the questions beforehand? Does he fear being showed up by Senator McCain on a national stage? Or is it just that he doesn't want those bitter bible thumping, gun toting, regular people asking him questions he does not want to answer? Yes.

At these town halls there will probably be someone there asking about the Rev. Wright controversay, or about Bill Ayers, or another major problem Obama has had in this campaign. Obama doesn't want to talk about these issues because they remind people of his negatives, and he has any politican only wants people thinking about his positives. Obama will have to duck and dodge these questions making him look like the typical slippery politican who can't give a straight answer. That's not good when your with someone who rode in on the "Straight Talk Express."

Another reason would be Obama's lack on Foreign Policy experience. Obama doesn't wnat to talk about Foreign policy, no matter how much he says he does. Obama has no idea what to do when it comes to forgien policy. I don't think he's read a paper for information on Iraq in two years, if he had he would realize that the surge has been successful and that the Iraqi's on getting closer to being able to defend themselves every day. However an early withdrawl will allow that progress to collapse and probably force the U.S. to go back in just a few years. McCain would say Except this time will be facing an entrenched Al-Qaeda and possibly a nuclear Iran. Right now we have Al-Qaeda in Iraq on the ropes and Iran under international pressure to cease it's nuclear weapons program. At a town hall event this subject is most likely going to be bought up. Then Obama will have to explain why people should listen to him instead of a war hero with over thirty years of experience in the Senate, and many years of experience handling forgien policy, I wish the Freshman Senator luck with that.

Obama's plans to raise taxes on Americans is probably not going to go over well. Especially when put next to McCain's plan to lower taxes. Plain and simple most people believe lower taxes are better for them than high taxes. The more money the government takes away from you the less you have to spend. Of course Obama thinks the government should provide for you, and knows better than you what you need. They want to take your paycheck and spend it on universal healthcare, more money for welfare and unemployment, and other special projects which Obama will tell us about if he gets elected. Meanwhile we will still keep spending money on lawmakers pork barrel projects, most of which do nothing to help the country. McCain will keep taxes low and veto any bill containing these pork-barrel projects. That always goes over better with people than raising taxes and spending money on pork-barrel projects.

On top of everything else I've stated Obama only wants one town hall event, on July 4th because he doesn't come off has well at them has he does when giving speeches. If you don't believe me you can find some examples on my website. Obama doesn't think has well on his feet has many in the media would like us to believe. However McCain does. This is the reason he wants the one townhall on July 4th when everyone is out at a BBQ. At a town hall the American people would see a McCain that is just has vigorous has Obama. Obama on the otherhand would not come off has well has he does in his speeches because there would be follow up questions and people would ask for details of his plans. In my opinion the crowd at the townhall, and at home won't like the plans Obama has for the country. The townhalls would also take away the age factor. The events will make people forget about how old he is.

McCain could probably win the election on the strength of these events alone if Obama accepted the challenge. McCain is just better than Obama in townhall settings. However, if Obama refuses to debate McCain at these townhall events, as he has so far, McCain will beat him over the head with the issue. McCain will and is already asking Obama why he doesn't want to American people to see them debate. He's also showing the American people that he's ready to debate the younger Obama and by asking for ten debates is telling them he's in great shape. The truth is this is a win-win for McCain.

R. Kelly gets away with raping underage girl.

Rapper R. Kelly was found not gulity of raping a thirteen year old child even though the incident was posted online. R. Kelly used the it wasn't me defense brillantly and the jury believed him. The defense claimed that it was R. Kelly's head super-imposed on another man's body. This despite the fact that several witnesses including one of the women on the tape testified it was infact R. Kelly. The thirteen year old girl in question refused to testify. Many people believe she, and her family were paid off by Kelly. Even so what does it take to convict a celebrity in this country.

Prosecutors called 22 witnesses that said it was the girl on the tape. The Defense called the girl in question and three family members of the girl would said it wasn't her. What did the case come down to, "The issue of whether there was or wasn't a fingernail-sized mole on the man's lower back was a subject of hours of testimony. A defense witness told jurors there was no mole on his back, proving it's not Kelly, who has such a mole. But a prosecution witness displayed freeze frames of the video where a dark spot seemed to appear as the man turns to take off his pants."

That's what the jurors were debating and why they found him not guilty. What about the fact he's on tape having sex with an underage girl. I can't believe the jurors bought that his head was superimposed. If the tape was the only evidence the prosecution had of the crime, maybe you believe that, but when 22 witnesses identify the girl on the tape has being underage, and 11 idenify R. Kelly has the man on the tape I think it's obvious what happened. Furthermore, the star prosecution witness told the jury, she engaged in several three-way sexual encounters with Kelly and the alleged victim, including once on a basketball court. Kelly videotaped the trysts, she said.

I think the jurors just wanted to go home instead of delibating according to an article on MSNBC.com a juror broke a bottle of beer on the table while having dinner with his fellow jurors because the waiter took to long to bring him his beer. “I’ve been waiting for fucking half an hour — how long do I have to wait? All I want is a couple of beers and a hamburger," said the juror. Things got so out of hand the juror had to be given his own room last night and prosecutors wanted him kicked off the jury, the juror told the judge he was claustrophobic, after the judge ask if he had mental problems. Then the next morning another juror wrote the judge a note asking to be let off the juror, "“How can I be removed and go home? I really need to.” Before the judge could even decide if the juror could be removed their was a verdict. The jury took less tan a day to delibrate on this case which took a month to prosecute. I'm thinking maybe they didn't delibrate as well as they might have.

I guess you have to give the defense credit, if that's what you want to call it, for confusing the jury and underminding the Prosecution's star witness by getting her to admit from stealing for Kelly on the stand, but still it's on tape! It's times like this I'm glad I believe in Heaven and Hell because even though he might not get held accountable during his lifetime I have no doubt he will be held accountable for his actions in the afterlife.

How could you Kennedy!?

In a five-four decision the U.S. supreme court has granted the prisoners at Guantamno Bay to petiton for access to U.S. courts. While this does not mean that they will have access to U.S. courts it leaves the decision up to a judge. Thereby taking it away from our President and our elected officals which both agreed on how the tribuals should preceed. This is the first time in history a court has overruled both the President and the Congress on the conduct of the war during the war. The court had disagreed with one or the other, but never when both agreed.

I knew this decision would be five-four but I thought Justice Kennedy would come down on the side of protecting the U.S. and plain common sense. However this is just the latest in a series of rulings that have outraged conservatives.

Anthony Kennedy was appointed by President Reagan in 1988. Since then he has baffled conservatives with his opinions in support of the Kelo decision, which extended the defination of public use to include knocking down a house to build a hotel to increase tax revenues for the government. Public use before that meant roads, hospitals, dams, police stations, etc. He also ruled on the side on the majority in Ashcroft Vs. Free Speech Coalition. The court in this case ruled that simulated virtual child pornography was protected under the first amendment. Kennedy wrote for the majority. Here is part of his opinion: "Child pornography is not necessarily without value, but it is illegal because of the harm that making and distributing it necessarily inflicts upon children. Ferber expressly allowed virtual child pornography as an alternative that could preserve whatever literary value child pornography might arguably have while at the same time mitigating the harm caused by making it. The CPPA would eliminate this distinction and punish people for engaging in what had heretofore been a legal alternative." The final thing I will mention is Kennedy citing International Law in his opinion Roper Vs. Simmons which held that excutions of minors and the mentality ill were illegal. No matter if you agree with his decision or not a U.S. Justice should not be turning to international laws to draft his opinion in a U.S. court. I'm sure France doesn't check our laws before making a decision about a case in their country.

The decision of the Supreme Court on June 12, 2008 may turn into America's greatest defeat in the War on Terror. We know that these terrorist cannot defeat us on the battlefield. We've seen this time and time again, and are now begining to see it in Iraq. However give them high-priced ACLU lawyers and access to American courts, where they will without a doubt spend most of their time railing against America, and who know what will happen. There's a chance they will be released and sent back out where they will kill more Americans. What if these people are released by American courts then come back to conduct an major terrorist attack on our own soil. The Justices who are the majority of this decision will one day regret the chaos they have unleashed upon the country. I agree with Justice Scalia whose dissent, here it is.

From the Dissent of Scalia:
Today the Court warps our Constitution in a way that goes beyond the narrow issue of the reach of the Suspension Clause, invoking judicially brainstormed separation of-powers principles to establish a manipulable "functional" test for the extraterritorial reach of habeas corpus (and, no doubt, for the extraterritorial reach of other constitutional protections as well). It blatantly misdescribes important precedents, most conspicuously Justice Jackson's opinion for the Court in Johnson v. Eisentrager. It breaks a chain of precedent as old as the common law that prohibits judicial inquiry into detentions of aliens abroad absent statutory authorization. And, most tragically, it sets our military commanders the impossible task of proving to a civilian court, under whatever standards this Court devises in the future, that evidence supports the confinement of each and every enemy prisoner.
THE NATION WILL LIVE TO REGRET WHAT THE COURT HAS DONE TODAY. I dissent.

Seven arrested for cheering at Graduation.

Yes you read the headline right. Seven people were arrested after during a high school graduation cermony after cheering for a graduate. Fort Mill High School had sent letters home with students that said they could be prosecuted for "bad behavior." "I just thought they were going to escort me out," Jonathan Orr told The Herald of Rock Hill. "I had no idea they were going to put handcuffs on me and take me to jail." Orr spent two hours in jail for his crime of screaming when his cousin's name was called. Orr was not the only person to be unaware that cheering would be treated has a criminal offense. William Massey, 19, was also arrested he plans to fight the charge. He said he simply "clapped and gave a little whoop" when his fiancee's name was called. The principle of Fort Mill said the reason for the rule was so that all the names called could be heard.

Here's an idea, why not just slow down the cermony a little bit and wait for the cheering to stop before annoucing the next name? If the cermony last twenty minutes longer is anyone really going to care? It's a once in a lifetime event. Call the name, wait for the applause to stop, and call the next name. My sister just graduated high school on June 6th and people were screaming including my mom, and no one cared. Everyone was excited to see their son, daughter, sister, brother, or cousin graduate. I just hope the police aren't looking for me or my mom.

This event is on top of last year's debacle where five students were denied diplomas in Galesburg, Illinois. This was in response to people from the crowd cheering for them. It could have been someone doing it out of spite. However they withheld the diplomas until the students finished eight hours of community service.

It appears this nightmare policy will continue at the Fort Mill High School graduation. Fort Mill Principle Dee Christopher said, "We think it's important for every graduate's name to be heard and for every person in the arena to be able to see that student cross the stage. ... That's why we have disruptive guests removed," Maybe we should just have the graduation cermonies in abandoned warehoures with no audience. According to Orr it would be just has exciting, "For some people, it might be the only member of their family to graduate high school, and it was like a funeral in there."

Sixth Marine vindicated on charges related to Hadith.

So far six of the eight marines that have had charges against them involving the Hadith incident have been vindicated. Five of the marines had charges dropped due to lack of evidence. The sixth Lt. Andrew Grayson was acquitted June 5th. Grayson was not charged with the murders. He was instead charged with being part of a cover-up.
Grayson refused to accept a plea deal that would have reduced charges and kept him out of prison, “I was the one that had to look at myself in the mirror. To take the easy way out, you are the one that has to live with that,” he said.
Representive Jack Murtha said shortly after the story came out said that, "Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood.” I wonder if Representive Murtha will issue a apology on the House floor? Probably not, it wouldn't be politically expedient.

How Republicans can retake control of the country.

I've been thinking alot about how Republicans can retake control of congress. The first thing they could do is act like Republicans. Allowing spending to get out of control, apparently President Bush misplaced his veto pen after the 04 elections, was a major reason we lost control of congress. However, it was not the only reason. Republicans also have a bad record on the environment, energy, and education. I know that we've tried to drill for more oil and were blocked by the Dems, but were not doing a good job of telling the public that we do support alternative energy. We have to tell people that we want to drill now and switch to alternative energy when everyone can afford to do so. If we go to alternative energy before it's affordable people will be in worse shape than they are now, Ethanol isn't cheap. We also have to remind people that the Republican controled congress raised CAFE standards. I personally don't think that we should have cars that go less than 25 miles a gallon. I would put a 100% tax on automobiles that did not meet that standard. I know I said we should have a tax not all taxes are bad. For the most part the fewer taxes the better, but a tax to discourage someone from buying a Hummer that gets ten miles a gallon I'm all for. This tax should help us use less gas and therefore loosen the grip of countries like Saudi Arabia on our foreign policy. We would also stop funding terrorism through our purchases of gasoline. Some comerical automobiles like 16 wheelers, and other vechicals driven by truckers would be excluded from the tax. I don't want to put anyone out of business.

Now onto something we can all agree on keeping taxes low. I believe that low taxes encourages investment in the ecomony. It doesn't matter if it's someone deciding to start a small business or investing in the stock market low taxes are key to getting that capital in the economy. Obama has said he wants to raise the capital gains rate and raise taxes on people making more than $250,000 dollars a year. What Democrats seem to always forget is that most small business make more than $250,000 a year. However they put much of that money back into their businesses to keep it running. If you raise taxes at that level you will put a strain on these small businesses. Then they won't be able to hire new employees and the unemployment rate will rise. Then those people that can't find work will need government services to keep food on the table. So they'll go down to the welfare office, because they won't be able to find work, and apply for welfare. Then the Democrats will raise taxes again to pay for all the new people collecting welfare.

Of course the biggest issue Americans are facing is national security. Our country is facing threats from Islamic radicals who have already proven they will hit us at home if they can. Iraq is actually begining to turn around. Iraqi troops are leading and winning battles against extremist inside Iraq. The battle in Basra is the best example of this. Iraqi troops went into Barsa and cleared out the extremist and have been able to hold the city with a minimum of American help. Iraqi troops are now the ones taking most of the casualites. They are now leading operations throughout the country. One party wants to fight terrorism wherever it finds it, and that includes Iraq. The other party wants to talk to terrorists wherever they find them. I can't wait to take this debate to the people.

For some reasons Republicans have done a terrible job getting their message to the American people. I believe our message is the right one for the country, but we're not communicating it effectively. You could blame the media, you could blame the democrats, but I blame the Republicans. They did spent 6 years acting like Democrats while in control of Congress. Hopefully that beating in 06 thought them a lesson. They got what they deserved.

However the country does not deserve to be run into the ground by liberals. We need to speak with one voice when talking about policy. Newt Gingrinch did an unbelievable job being our voice in the 90's. Now we need a new voice to speak for the Republican Party. Someone the people trust and that hasn't been stained by the spending spree the Republican congress went on recently. Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe this is why McCain wants Obama in those town hall debates

Here's what Obama sounds like when there's not a script placed in front of him. He makes President Bush look like the world's greatest public speaker. These are Hillarious.

McCain: Obama = Carter

When Senator McCain asked about Obama saying he represents a Bush third term he responsed by saying, "Well I think maybe his proposals could be a Carter second term,” Of course I was barely born during the last years of the Carter Presidency, but being a student of History I can say that I don't want to live through them. Stagflation, inflation with a staggent economy, and unemployment rates near 10%. Not to mention the Iranian Hostage Crisis where Iran held American hostages for 444 days. The Crisis ended the day Reagan took office. There were also gas lines, and restrictions on when you could by gas. Today we have the high gas prices, but none of the other problems that the Carter Adminstration bought on the country. As long as this later Carter wanabe stays out of the Oval Office I don't think we will.

McCain challenges Obama to town hall debates

Senator McCain has challenged Barack Obama to a series of town hall debates. The first would be June 12th if the Obama campaign accepts.

Obama sounds great, says nothing.

After Listening to and then reading the transcript of Barack Obama's speech I realized something. Listening to Obama you feel inspired, he's a great speaker there's no doubt about that, but then you ask yourself what did he say? Barack Obama talks about all the problems in America and that he's going to fix them when he becomes President, but he always skips how he's going to fix them. Here's an example "We owe our children a better future. We owe our country a better future. And for all those who dream of that future tonight, I say: Let us begin the work together. Let us unite in common effort to chart a new course for America." Sounds great Senator Obama, but I have a few questions. What's the common effort? Where are we going? How are we going to get there? Obama never answers these questions in his speeches because the answers are scarier than the questions.

He also says "I honor, we honor the service of John McCain, and I respect his many accomplishments, even if he chooses to deny mine." Ok what are your accomplishments Senator Obama? I know you gave a great speech at the 2004 Democratic convention and got yourself elected Senator, but what else have you done? After that he said, "We must once again have the courage and the conviction to lead the free world. That is the legacy of Roosevelt and Truman and Kennedy. That’s what the American people demand. That’s what change is." Let me get this straight you plan on leading the free world by running from the central battle in the War on Terror, and talking directly to dictators that threaten the U.S. at every turn. I could pull quote after quote from his speech and tear them apart all night long. This is what Obama does he gives a speech that sounds great and everyone goes those are great ideas. The problem for the Freshman Senator will come when people start disecting his speeches and realize, his solutions are scarier than any problem we face now.

McCain starts general election campaign.

Tonight John McCain has kicked off his general election campaign with a speech blasting Obama for being someone who talks about change and bipartisan ship, but says he is the one that has been for change for years, "The choice is between the right change and the wrong change. The right change will stop impeding Americans from doing what they have always done: overcome every obstacle to our progress, turn challenges into opportunities, and by our own industry, imagination and courage make a better country and a safer world than we inherited."

McCain Highlighted differences he has had with the Bush administration from spending to promoting the surge in Iraq. On spending he said, "I have opposed wasteful spending by both parties and the Bush administration. Senator Obama has supported it and proposed more of his own." McCain said he wanted a freeze on all discresitionary spending programs until a review could be done to get rid of programs that overlap and are wasteful. He also made it clear he opposed giving subsidies to big businesses.

Then McCain turned to our dependence on foreign oil. "The next President must be willing to break completely with the energy policies not just of the Bush Administration, but the administrations that preceded his, and lead a great national campaign to put us on a course to energy independence." He said we could do this by using the using the "creativtiy and genius" of the Amercian people.

McCain then started firing at Barack Obama. He hit Obama on almost every concievable issue from the environment to the War on Terror. He attempted to paint Obama has a peace loving tax raising liberal in the fashion of Jimmy Carter. He questioned Obama's Judgement for wanting to meet with foreign leaders that are hostile to the United States, without pre-conditions. He pointed out the He has a record of working across the alise while Obama has only talked about doing so.

The point of McCain's speech was to say that he's already spent over thirty years doing what Obama is talking about doing. It was also to show he does not represent Bush's third term. "You will hear every policy of the President described as the Bush-McCain policy. Why does Senator Obama believe it’s so important to repeat that idea over and over again? Because he knows it’s very difficult to get Americans to believe something they know is false. So he tries to drum it into your minds by constantly repeating it rather than debate honestly the very different directions he and I would take the country."

McCain will win this election because he has done all the things that Obama is talking about doing. Also while no one wants to spend any more time in Iraq than is necessary I do not believe that Americans are ready to hand the country off the to Al-Qaeda. Americans really do, for the most part, understand that if we lose the battle in Iraq the war doesn't end it just becomes longer and more difficult to win.
